Set up order ticket printing with Square for Retail

    With Square for Retail, you can easily connect a printer to your device to print order tickets. If you accept collection orders with the Square Retail Point of Sale app on iOS or use Square Online for online orders, you can also automatically print order tickets with fulfilment. Each ticket will include relevant details to help you with managing delivery or collection orders.

    Before you start

    Before you turn order tickets on and automatically print incoming orders, check that your printer is connected to your Square Retail Point of Sale app. Learn how to connect a printer to your point of sale.

    To print order tickets for Square Online orders, you need to set up collection and/or delivery. Learn how to set up pickup options with Square Online and set up delivery options for Square Online.

    Set up order printing

    To set up printing for orders created in person and online from the Square Point of Sale app with retail mode enabled or from the Square for Retail Point of Sale app:

    1. Open your Square Retail Point of Sale app.

    2. Tap ≡ More and select Settings > Hardware > Printers.

    3. Select the use types under Use this printer for. If you want to use a printer profile, tap Profiles > Create profile or select an existing profile.

    4. If an order requires immediate preparation or customisation for your in-store customer, toggle In-store order tickets on to turn automatic printing on.

    5. If an order requires delivery or collection and will be fulfilled for a customer at a later time, toggle Order tickets with fulfilment on to turn automatic printing on.

    6. Select the categories of items you prefer to print and select other options, like Single item per ticket or Compact tickets – if applicable.

    7. Tap Save.

    After the feature is turned on, new orders will automatically print from your supported printing device. Any new orders will also be highlighted green in the Orders section of your online Square Dashboard and in your Square Retail Point of Sale app to differentiate from existing orders.
