Limit Availability of Non-Physical Items

By default, non-physical items are available to customers worldwide, but you can restrict sales of these items to specific locations with just a few steps.

Turn off worldwide availability for non-physical items

  1. Go to the Online Overview page
  2. Go to Settings > Shipping.
  3. Click Edit next to Advanced Settings
  4. Uncheck the boxes in the worldwide availability area for items you want to restrict.
  5. Click Done to save your changes.

Set up shipping for the areas you want to sell in

  1. Go to the Online Overview page
  2. Go to Settings > Shipping.
  3. Click Add Region under Destination Regions & Rates.
  4. Choose a region from the list, then select a shipping option below. If you’re only selling non-physical items, you can use the free shipping option.
  5. Click Save when you’re finished and repeat the process for other areas that you want to allow purchases from.

Customer Experience

Customers outside of these shipping regions won’t be able to buy non-physical items. We compare their billing address to your shipping regions during checkout. If the addresses don’t match, they’ll be notified that the item isn’t available in their region.

Note: Shipping information isn’t required for purchases of non-physical items. You can collect shipping information using the options in Settings > Checkout > Advanced Settings.
