Limit Availability of Non-Physical Items in Square Online

If you sell non-physical items on your Square Online site, they’ll be available to customers worldwide by default. To limit their availability, you can restrict sales of these items to specific locations with just a few steps.

Manage Worldwide Availability of Your Items

To manage the worldwide availability of your non-physical items:

  1. In your Square Online Overview page , go to Fulfilment > Delivery.

  2. Under Advanced Settings, select Edit and untick the boxes under Worldwide Availability for items you want to limit.

  3. Select Done when finished.

Set Up Delivery for Items You Want to Limit

To set up delivery regions to limit the availability of your non-physical items:

  1. In your Square Online Overview page , go to Fulfilment > Delivery.

  2. Under Destination Regions & Rates, select Add Region.

  3. Choose a region from the dropdown menu, then select a delivery option. If you’re only selling non-physical items, you can use the free delivery option.

  4. Select Save when finished. Repeat the process for other areas that you want to allow purchases from.

If you already have delivery regions set up for your online store, you can skip this step.

How Delivery Settings Work to Limit Item Availability

Customers outside of the shipping regions you set up won’t be able to buy non-physical items. We compare their billing address to your delivery regions during checkout. If the addresses don’t match, they’ll be notified that the item isn’t available in their region.

Consider adding details about item availability to your item descriptions or store policies. You can edit store policies in the checkout settings of your Square Online Overview page.

Note: Delivery information isn’t required for the purchase of non-physical items. You can collect delivery information using the options in the checkout settings of your Square Online Overview page by going to Advanced settings.
