Create and edit bundles

This article is for business owners and team members with item creation permissions who are creating or editing bundles with a Square for Retail Plus or Premium subscription or a Square Online Plus subscription. Learn more about custom permissions and setting up your team with Square for Retail.

About bundles

You can bundle complementary items together to sell for a single unit price ― often discounted. Create a bundle by adding up to 20 items, referred to as components. Bundles can even include non-sellable items, which are stockable items related to component inventory.

Use product bundling to boost sales, cut shipping costs, and help introduce new products. You can track inventory on individual items whether they're sold separately or in bundles.

Before you begin

  • This feature requires a subscription to Square for Retail Plus/Premium or Square Online Plus.

  • To create bundles, you need to have access to your Square Dashboard.

  • To edit bundles, you need to have access to your Square Dashboard or the Square Retail POS app.

  • You cannot bundle existing items, only during new item creation.

You are not able to use item modifiers when creating a bundle nor restrict the number of bundles available for sale, even if you have the inventory to sell more. Bundles can only be sold if all components are available from the same location.

Create a bundle

  1. Sign in to your Square Dashboard and click Items & orders > Items > Item library.

  2. Click Create item.

  3. Click Sell as a bundle > Select components.

  4. Check the box next to each item you want to include as components of your bundle.

  5. Click Select components.

  6. Add the quantity of each component.

  7. If applicable, add a GTIN, SKU or weight (weight helps calculate shipping costs).

  8. Add the bundle Price and Add sale price (optional).

  9. Click Save.

Bundles can be sold from Square Point of Sale, the Retail POS app, and Square Online.

Edit a bundle

You can edit bundles from your Item library in Square Dashboard, Square Point of Sale, and the Square Retail POS app. You can only add or remove components from a bundle in Square Dashboard.

From Square Dashboard

  1. Sign in to your Square Dashboard and click Items & orders > Items > Item library.
  2. Click a bundle to view.
  3. Under Bundle details, click Select components to add or remove components.
  4. Check/uncheck components and click Select components.
  5. Update the amount in the Quantity column.
  6. Update the Price (required) field.
  7. Click Save.

From the Square Point of Sale or Retail POS app

  1. Open the Square Point of Sale or the Square Retail POS app.
  2. Tap ≡ More > Items > All items.
  3. Tap a bundle to view.
  4. Tap Components to view.
  5. Edit the GTIN, SKU, or Price.
  6. Tap Save.
If you cancel or downgrade your Square for Retail (Plus or Premium) or Square Online Plus subscription you will no longer have access to any bundle-related functionality, such as:

    • Creating, editing, or copying bundles.
    • Availability is no longer calculated based on components and will always be 0.
    • If a bundle is sold it will not affect component inventory.

On the item details page for a bundle, you will see a message saying that the bundle is no longer tracking inventory. You will have the option to upgrade to reactivate advanced inventory features.
