Square Hosts Local Event to Support Edmonton Entrepreneurs

EDMONTON, AB–Jun 13, 2014–With small businesses comprising 95 percent of businesses in Alberta, Square, the company helping entrepreneurs start, run, and grow is coming to Edmonton to host Local Business is Beautiful event. Taking place on June 18, 2014 at 6 p.m. at Startup Edmonton, the event is designed to bring business owners together to collaborate, connect, and strengthen their communities.
Open to companies of all sizes, this free event will bring together entrepreneurs and small business owners to share their challenges, insights and experience. The founders of Edmonton’s own Tastemakers Edmonton, Hawkers Market, Jennifer Bergman Weddings Inc. and Barber Ha will participate in an in-depth discussion about growth and community collaboration.
For Jennifer Bergman, lead planner and designer at Jennifer Bergman Weddings Inc., collaborating and learning from her peers has been key to her success. “When operating a business you are constantly learning and facing new challenges. Having a support network to share information and celebrate successes makes owning a business less daunting,” said Bergman.
During Wednesday’s event, local artists, bakers and craft-makers will showcase their home and handmade products at pop-up shops. From art to fashion to tasty treats, an eclectic group of Edmonton’s own up-and-coming entrepreneurs will be on hand to sell their artisanal goods using Square mobile payment technology.
