Square Appoints New Head of Canada
TORONTO, ON–January 19, 2016– Square, Inc. today announced the appointment of Cathy Vigrass to the position of Head of Canada. Vigrass will lead Square’s Canada team, with a focus on growing the number of Square sellers and services in the Canadian market.
Vigrass has spent the last five years in Silicon Valley, most recently as the Head of Business Operations at activity concierge Sosh. Her career has also included strategic and operational roles at technology and commerce companies including eBay, where she worked on using technology to help merchants grow their businesses, and Apple, where she focused on retail innovation.

According to the Business Development Bank of Canada, 98.2% of businesses in Canada have fewer than 100 employees and they contribute more than half of Canada’s gross domestic product. Square offers Canadian sellers simple and affordable business management tools, including mobile point-of-sale, online invoicing, next day deposits and inventory management.
Square launched in Canada in 2012, the first market for the company outside the United States. Today, Square has two affiliate Canadian offices, in Kitchener-Waterloo and Toronto, with a team of nearly 50 employees. In 2015, Square acquired Canadian hardware technology company Kili Technology, which is spearheading the development of leading-edge hardware solutions for Square around the world.
