    Enabling customer message notifications is crucial for businesses engaged in customer service or client interactions. Notifications ensure that you are alerted promptly when customers send messages or inquiries. This allows you to respond quickly, which is essential for providing excellent customer service and addressing concerns in a timely manner.

    Before you begin

    You can manage notifications in Square Dashboard.

    Your customer will receive messages to the most recent channel they used to contact you, whether through email or text. You can update the phone number or email on file for your customer if needed. Learn how to edit, merge, or delete customer profiles.

    Enable notifications

    1. Sign in to Square Dashboard and click the Messages icon to open your Messages inbox.

    2. Click the gear icon to open Settings.

    3. Under Notification, toggle ON Email and Push notifications.

    4. Click Save.

    Enable do not disturb mode

    1. Sign in to Square Dashboard and go to your inbox.

    2. Click the gear icon to open Settings.

    3. Toggle ON Enable “do not disturb”.

    4. Read the implications information and check the "I have read and understand the implications of turning on Do Not Disturb" box.

    5. Click Confirm > Save.

    Block a customer

    Square Dashboard

    1. Sign in to Square Dashboard and click the Messages icon to open your Messages inbox. Messages-icon-Dashboard
    2. Select a conversation > click •••.
    3. Click Block and confirm.

    Square POS app

    1. Tap More > Messages.
    2. Select a conversation > tap •••.
    3. Tap Block and confirm.
