Take orders tableside with Square for Restaurants Mobile POS

This article is for restaurant owners and staff with a paid Square for Restaurants subscription needing to take orders tableside with Square for Restaurants mobile POS app on Square Terminal and/or Square for Restaurants mobile POS kit on Android.

Before you begin

Turn more tables, provide a better guest experience, and keep servers informed with real-time item and order updates by adding tableside ordering and payments to your point of sale system. Before taking orders in line or tableside, you need to be in front of a Square for Restaurants mobile POS on either Square Terminal or the Square for Restaurants mobile POS kit.

Before taking an order, make sure your hardware is set up correctly. Review the setup instructions specific to your mobile device.

Take an order tableside

Start a table

  1. From the floorplan on your mobile POS, tap a table.

  2. Select the number of guests.

Add items to the order

  1. Tap on the drink menu and specific drinks to the order.

  2. Tap the table and select Add to check.

  3. Tap Send to have the drinks sent to the bar.

Modify and review the check

  1. Tap on the table to modify the check.

  2. Select the starters or mains for a diner, including any necessary modifiers. 

  3. Tap Add to check

  4. Select any additional menu items for the table.

  5. Tap Check to review the current order.

  6. Reduce kitchen errors by making any necessary modifications to menu items.

Hold and fire courses

  1. Tap the fire symbol next to courses you wish to send to the kitchen.

  2. Tap Send

  3. Tap on the table to close out the check.
