You have two options for creating items by scanning barcodes with Square for Retail:

  • From your Item library in Square Dashboard

  • From the Square Retail POS app

Before you begin

You will also need to have a compatible barcode scanner connected or an iOS device with a camera connected to the Retail POS app. Learn how to connect a barcode scanner to Square and view barcode scanners compatible with Square hardware.
