Square Bill Pay Disputes Process

With Square Bill Pay, you can pay bills and vendors from your Square Dashboard using your Square Checking account or any debit or credit card.

Dispute Related to Vendor Issues

If you’ve completed a payment to a vendor using Square Bill Pay and have an issue with the payment because you are dissatisfied with the vendor or the vendor hasn’t delivered the goods or services you paid for, you must resolve this with the vendor directly.

Square is not a party to any agreement you have with the vendor and is unable to resolve a dispute with the vendor on your behalf.

If you used a debit or credit card to complete this bill payment and report a dispute to your card-issuing bank, the amount of the dispute will be returned to the original payment method and withdrawn from your Square account balance. You will need  to contact the vendor to resolve your dispute with them directly.

Disputes Related to Unauthorized Activity

If you did not make this bill payment and believe it was the result of unauthorized account activity, submit an Account Review request so that Square can investigate. We’ll work with you to get you back in control of your account. In the meantime, we suggest you take these actions to prevent further unauthorized activity:

Reset your password

Visit square.com/password. Choose a complex and unique password that is at least eight characters long, with a mix of numbers, symbols, and uppercase and lowercase letters. Avoid using your name, email address, mobile number, birthday, or any other personal information in the new password. If you use the same password for other services, we recommend you change those passwords as well.

Set up 2-Step Verification

2-Step Verification — also known as two-factor authentication — is a tool that provides an extra layer of security for your Square Account, protecting your account from unauthorized access. All you’ll need is an authenticator app. Learn more about how to set up 2-Step Verification.
