About Google Business Profile
With Google Business Profile, the details of your brick and mortar store and Square Online site display in Google Search and Google Maps results. Google Business Profile also synchronizes with:
Google Listings and Google Enhanced Listings if you’re a Square for Retail Free or Plus seller
Order with Google if you're a Square Online food and drink seller
By syncing your Google Business Profile to Square, you can seamlessly manage your Google presence directly from your Square Dashboard. You can also:
form your business identity on Google
connect with customers
post updates
list your products and services
accept online orders
Before you begin
Online-only businesses that sell virtually with Square Online or other online marketplaces are not eligible to sync their virtual locations to Google. Google requires a physical location to create a Google Business Profile.
You can sync your Google Business Profile to Square on your Square Dashboard. If you need to troubleshoot outside of your Square Dashboard or Square app, reference the Google help center.
Sync your business locations on Google
You can sync your account with Google from your Locations page or your Online sales channel page in Square Dashboard.
- Sign in to your Square Dashboard and select Account > Account & Settings > Business information > Locations.
- You’ll see a banner with the Google Business Profile at the top of the Locations page. Select Get Started.
- Select Sign in with Google.
- Select your Google business account in the pop-up window.
- Review the requirements, then select Allow.
- Select the category that best fits your business and select Continue.
- Fill out the fields that request basic information about your business.
- Select Publish.
- Sign in to your Square Dashboard and select Account > Account & Settings > Online sales channels.
- Find Google Business Profile and select Set up.
- Select Sign in with Google.
- Select your Google business account in the pop-up window.
- Review the requirements, then select Allow.
- Select the category that best fits your business and select Continue.
- Fill out the fields that request basic information about your business.
- Select Publish.
Once you sync your location with Google through Square, you need to verify your location with Google. Visit the Google help center to learn how to verify your business on Google. Once you successfully add your Google Business Profile to Square, your profile should appear under your Locations as Synced.
Edit locations synced with Google Business Profile
Any edits you make to a location synced with your Google Business Profile automatically sync with Google.
Sign in to your Square Dashboard and click Account & Settings > Business information > Locations.
Click Business information > Locations.
Select a location with the status Synced.
Make any changes and select Save.
Disconnect your business locations from Google
If you disconnect your business location with your Google Business Profile, your business information stops syncing with Google. Your location will remain visible on Google and you can still manage the locations separately from your Google Business Profile.
Sign in to your Square Dashboard and click Account & Settings > Business information > Locations.
Select the synced location you want to disconnect.
Click Disconnect.
