Set up Google Business Profile with Square

Google Business Profile drives further visibility and engagement to your business. The details of your brick and mortar store or Square Online website will be shown in Google Search and Google Maps results, turning searchers into new customers.  Google Business Profile also synchronises with Google Listings if you’re a Square for Retail Free or Plus customer.

By syncing your Google Business Profile to Square, you can seamlessly manage your Google presence directly from your online Square Dashboard. You can also:

  • Form your business identity on Google

  • Connect with customers

  • Post updates

  • List your products and services

  • Accept online orders, and more.

Requirements

To set up Google Business Profile with your Square account:

  • Ensure your Square account has been fully verified and activated for card processing.

  • You must be based in the United States.

  • You have at least one location with a valid address.

    • Note: Online-only businesses that sell virtually with Square Online or other online marketplaces won’t be eligible to sync their virtual locations to Google. You will require a physical location to create a Google Business Profile.

FAQ

I only have an eCommerce website, can I still use Google Business Profile?

Not at this time. Online-only businesses that sell virtually with Square Online or other online marketplaces won’t be eligible to sync their virtual locations to Google. You will require a physical location to create a Google Business Profile.

Can I use Square Marketing to request Google Reviews from my customers?

Yes! Once you’ve connected Google Business Profile to your Square account, you can set up automated email or text message marketing campaigns to:

  • Boost your Google Reviews through email and text messaging. Customers in the regulars group (made 3 purchases in the last year) or customers who have provided positive feedback through the receipt survey will be receiving google review request campaigns.
  • See how well your Google reviews and campaigns are doing through Square Marketing. A Google Reviews page will appear in your online Square Dashboard once you’ve synced at least one location to Google Business Profile—this dashboard will outline your insights and trends as well as the impact automated invites are having on your increasing reviews.
