Site Preferences for Square Online

The Square Online Overview page offers a number of options that affect the look, function and visibility of your website, including your site title, favicon, password protection and a few more. To access these options, go to the Square Online Overview page and select Website > Site Preferences.

Learn more about each option found on the Site Preferences page below.

Site Title

This refers to the title of your website, which is displayed on a browser tab and your app site icon. Select Change site title to edit the title.

Site Icon

Note: Using a custom site icon requires an upgrade on your Square Online site.

In order to facilitate access to your Square Online site, you can allow your customers to add a branded site icon directly to their phones that looks like an app icon. An app site icon encourages quick access to your site without your customer needing to input a URL into their web browser each time.

Learn more about setting up an app site icon for your Square Online site.

Site QR Code

You can use a QR code for your Square Online site that will take customers to your site's homepage. This can be useful to print out and include in collection orders, on your checkout counter or anywhere else you think it might be useful.

Note: To use a QR code for your site, your website must be published.

Note: Using favicons requires an upgrade on your Square Online site.

Select Upload to upload a custom icon (known as a favicon) to be displayed on the browser tab. This could be your business logo or another image that represents you, your business or organisation. Learn more about uploading a custom favicon to your Square Online site.

Password Protection

Note: Using password protection requires an upgrade on your Square Online site.

Enable password protection for your website to limit what can be seen on Square Online to only a select number of people. Learn more about using password protection on Square Online.

Use this option if you want to temporarily take your website offline. You can republish again at any time from the Square Online site editor by selecting Publish.

Reset to Default

Selecting the Reset to default button allows you to start over with your website, which means any changes you’ve made or content you’ve added in the Square Online site editor are removed so you may start again from scratch.

Note: Be cautious when using this option as it cannot be reversed. We don't have the means to revert a website to a previous version or published state.
