  • About enrolling customers in your loyalty programme

    Enrolling customers in a loyalty program not only strengthens the relationship between your business and your customers but also drives revenue growth and provides valuable insights for strategic decision-making.

    Before you begin

    You need to create a loyalty programme before you can start inviting customers. Learn how to create a loyalty programme.

    Once you've set up and activated your loyalty programme and subscription, the new loyalty enrolment screens will appear in your Square POS app, Square Terminal, or Square Register and you can start signing up your customers to receive rewards.

    To earn points, customers must provide the same phone number for each payment method used at your business. A new profile will be created in your Customer Directory if the customer uses a different phone number.

    If you're using Android or Square Register, you'll need to disable the Skip Receipt Screen and Automatically Print Receipts settings in order to see the loyalty screen at checkout.

    Enable loyalty redemption

    Square POS app and Square Terminal

    1. Tap More > Settings.
    2. Select Loyalty and toggle on Customer check in on customer display.

    Square Register

    1. Tap More > Settings.
    2. Select Loyalty.
    3. Toggle on Show check-in screen at start of transaction. Ensure that the Enable Loyalty option is toggled on in order to update the settings on your device.

    Enrol a customer in your loyalty programme

    1. Process a sale the same way you normally would. After the sale has been completed and your customer has passed the receipt screen, you'll reach the loyalty screen.

    2. Ask your customer to enter their phone number to enrol or sign in to your loyalty programme.

    After each transaction, your customer will receive a text message indicating they've been enrolled and, if applicable, earned their first point(s), along with a link to their loyalty programme status.

    Customise your sign-in screen

    You can choose to show non-qualifying purchases and set your preferred post-transaction screen timeout.

    Square POS app and Square Terminal

    1. Tap More > Settings > Loyalty.
    2. Select the setting you would like to adjust for your loyalty program.

    Square Register

    1. Tap More > Settings.
    2. Select Loyalty.
    3. Toggle on Enable loyalty sign-up and check-in.

    If this integration is turned off, customers will be directed to an online webpage where they can view their loyalty status details.

    Customise your digital loyalty pass design

    Buyers may be prompted to add a loyalty pass to the digital wallet on their iPhone to make checking in, point accrual and reward redemption easier for future transactions. Once a buyer taps the notification on their smartphone and verifies their personal information, they can add a digital loyalty pass for your business to their device. For future transactions, the buyer can check in and redeem rewards by tapping their smartphone on the customer display or on a contactless card reader during checkout.

    Digital loyalty pass details will reflect your business name and logo and the buyer’s name, phone number, point balance, reward status and start date of their participation in your programme.

    You can customise the digital Loyalty pass design from the Locations section of your online Square Dashboard and you can enable the digital pass feature from the Settings tab in the Loyalty section of your online Square Dashboard.

     Note: This feature is only available for Apple Wallet on iOS devices at this time.
