Make Online Purchases with Square Card

When making purchases online with your Square Card, you may be asked to confirm your transaction in your Square Dashboard or the Square app before it can be completed. This extra authentication step helps safeguard against fraud and keep your money secure.

Confirm Your Square Card Online Purchases

If you receive a notification asking to confirm your Square Card purchase, you can approve or deny the transaction by following these steps:

From your online Square Dashboard

  1. Go to Balance > Locations and select the location attached to your Square Card.

  2. View the pending transaction at the top of your screen.

  3. Click to approve or decline the transaction in question.

  4. You’ll then receive a 6-digit verification code via text. Enter the verification code in the field on your dashboard.

  5. Return to the merchant checkout and complete your transaction.

From the Square App

  1. Navigate to Balance in your Square app.

  2. Locate the online transaction that will show as pending.

  3. Click to approve or decline the transaction in question.

  4. Confirm your identity via face or touch authentication, or by entering your device PIN.

  5. Return to the merchant checkout and complete your transaction.

Lock Your Square Card

If you receive a notification to confirm an online transaction you did not make, you should deny the transaction and lock your Square Card from your Square Dashboard or the Square app. To lock your card:

From your online Square Dashboard

  1. Go to Balance > Locations and select the location attached to the Square Card.

  2. Click the gear icon and select Square Card settings.

  3. Select Lock card.

From your Square App

  1. Navigate to Balance in your Square app.

  2. Scroll down and tap Manage > Square Card.

  3. Toggle on Lock card.

Cancel Your Square Card

If you are concerned your card is compromised, you can deactivate your Square Card and order a new card from your Square Dashboard app or the Square app. To do so:

From your online Square Dashboard

  1. Go to Balance > Locations and select the location attached to your Square Card.

  2. Click the gear icon and select Square Card settings.

  3. Select Problem with card and select My card was stolen.

  4. Under Replace Card select Yes.

  5. Select Deactivate and replace, and another card will be mailed to you.

From your Square App

  1. Go to Balance > Locations and select the location attached to your Square Card.

  2. Scroll down and tap Manage > Square Card.

  3. Tap Get help with card and select My card was stolen.

  4. Tap Deactivate card, and a new card will be mailed to you..
