  • About Square Kiosk

Square Kiosk is a purpose-built self-service ordering station featuring a 21.5 inch vertical touchscreen, AI-powered voice ordering, built-in contactless and chip payments, presence detection, and an integrated barcode scanner. Unlike the prior iPad-based version of Square Kiosk and Square Stand, the new Square Kiosk is a standalone device that does not require an iPad.

Choose your mounting option before starting setup. Square Kiosk supports four installation types:

    • Countertop mount

    • Floor stand

    • Wall mount

    • VESA

Mounting hardware is sold separately based on your chosen installation type. Learn how to set up your Square Kiosk mount.

If you’re looking for information about the iPad-based self-service kiosk, this has been renamed to Square Stand with the Square Kiosk Lite app. Learn how to set up Square Kiosk Lite.

    Before you begin

    • You can set up your Square Kiosk by installing your Square Kiosk hardware, creating a mode from Square Dashboard, and signing into Square Kiosk using a device code you create or entering your user name and password on Square Kiosk.

    • Offline payments and cash payments are not supported with Square Kiosk. Learn how to process offline payments.

    • Square Kiosk requires a stable internet connection to process payments and enable voice ordering. Use a dedicated network for the best performance.

    • Square Kiosk is designed for indoor use only and is not rated for outdoor environments. Do not expose the kiosk to rain, extreme temperatures, or humidity. If your business has an indoor/outdoor setup, the kiosk should remain indoors at all times.

    • To set up your Square Kiosk, you need:

      • Your unboxed Square Kiosk hardware.

      • A power outlet within reach of your installation location.

      • A stable WiFi network or an ethernet connection within reach of your hardware installation.

      • Access to Square Dashboard to create a device mode. Learn how to set up device codes.

      • At least one active point of sale device using the Square Point of Sale app.

    Square Kiosk subscription requirements

Purchase and use of the new Square Kiosk requires an active Square Plus or Premium subscription.
