Create and Purchase Shipping Labels in Square Dashboard

Shipping labels can be purchased using the updated shipping label experience from the Shipments page in Square Dashboard. See below for more information on how to get started.

Once you connect your Shippo account with Square, you can create custom shipping labels from your Square Dashboard.

Create a Shipping Label

  1. Log in to your Square Dashboard and click Orders > Shipments.

  2. Click the To-do tab.

  3. Select an individual shipment order and click Create label.

  4. Add the package details. Note: For Shipment insurance, $50 insurance is included. To add additional insurance for an extra cost, enter the insured value.

  5. Add any additional options and click Save. Note: The carrier and service level will default to your preferred settings, and the Shipping Box will automatically populate your default box if you have one set up.

  6. Review the order details and change the carrier or service level if needed. Note: You will only see rates for carriers that you have enabled in your settings.

  7. A confirmation screen will pop up with the total cost of your label. Click Buy shipping label or click the X to cancel.

  8. Click the paper size dropdown to change the size of your shipping label. By default, the shipping label size is 4 x 6”.

  9. Check the Save this selection box to save your settings for future shipping labels. Note: You cannot change the label size once the purchase is completed.

  10. Select Confirm and print to complete the purchase. Confirming will automatically mark the selected shipment order as Shipped and the delivery status as Label created

  11. Your printable shipping label will open in a new tab.

  12. You can also print the label at a later date by going to your Shipments, selecting the shipment label you want to print, and clicking Print label.

UPS Label

At this time, Square rates are only available to sellers who previously connected to UPS with Square rates, either through Square Online or Order Manager. UPS with Square rates will be available in Shipments on your Square Dashboard without any action needed from you.

To purchase a shipping label using UPS with Square rates:

  1. Log in to your Square Dashboard and click Orders > Shipments > To-do.
  2. Click the individual order to view more details.
  3. Click Create Label.
  4. Click the Carrier dropdown and choose UPS.
  5. Add any additional options and click Save.
  6. Review the order details and click Buy shipping label.
  7. Select Confirm and print to complete the purchase. Confirming will automatically mark the selected shipment order as Shipped and the delivery status as Label created.

Purchase and print shipping labels in bulk

To purchase shipping labels for multiple shipment orders at once:

  1. Log in to your Square Dashboard and click Orders > Shipments > Shipped.
  2. Check the box next to each shipment order that you want to purchase a shipping label for.
  3. At the bottom of the page, click Create labels.
  4. Add the shipment details, which will apply to all selected orders. You can edit the individual order details on the next page.
  5. Click Next. To edit the shipment details individually for each order, click on the shipment order.
  6. Click Buy shipping labels. If applicable, resolve any errors before trying again.
  7. Click Print PDF.

To print shipping labels for multiple shipment orders at once:

  1. Log in to your Square Dashboard and click Orders > Shipments > To-do.
  2. Check the box next to each shipment order that you want to print a shipping label for.
  3. At the bottom of the page, click Print > Print shipping labels.

Note: You can select up to 25 shipment orders at a time to take a bulk action on.

Request a Shipping Label Refund

To request a refund for a purchased shipping label:

  1. Log in to your Square Dashboard and click Orders > Shipments.

  2. Click the Shipped tab.

  3. Select an individual shipment order and click Print label > Request refund.

  4. Review the refund details and select Yes, refund this label.

  5. Select Continue. Note: The current shipment for the shipment order will be automatically closed and a new one will be created in the To-do tab.
