Browser cookies help websites keep track of your visits and activity. A website might use cookies to keep a record of your most recent visit or to record your login information.
A cookie banner (or preference center) is the consent management module on websites that allows users to give their consent to which cookies and trackers they allow on their device.
You can choose to use our preferred partner, Cookiebot, to set up your cookie banners. When you select the free Cookiebot option, you can choose to display the cookie consent banner in light or dark mode. You’ll also get features such as:
Unlimited usage of the cookie banner
Auto-categorization of cookies
Translation in 45+ languages
If you select the Cookiebot Premium option and upgrade, you’ll go through the Cookiebot upgrade flow to collect a CBID (Cookiebot identification). Make sure your site is published before you upgrade to Cookiebot Premium.
With Cookiebot Premium (a separate monthly plan from Square Online), you can fully customize your banner and get additional features such as:

Data export

Bulk consent

Before you begin
You can add a cookie banner to your site from your Square Dashboard. You have two options for adding a cookie banner:
With third-party code
Using Cookiebot
If you use Cookiebot Premium, make sure your site is published before you upgrade.

Option 1: Add a cookie banner with third-party code
Square Online allows you to be compliant with consumer privacy data laws by enabling you to work with third party cookie banner providers. To add a cookie banner to your site, sign up with a third-party cookie banner provider of your choice, such as Legal Monster, CookieHub, or CookiePro.
Once signed up, they'll provide you with a code to add to your site.
Sign in to your Square Dashboard and go to Sales channels > Online > Website > Site Preferences.
Select Set up cookie consent under Cookie Consent.
Choose Custom banner code and select Next.
Add your cookie banner code and select Save when finished.
Option 2: Add a cookie banner with Cookiebot
Square Online allows you to add a cookie banner to your site with our partner Cookiebot. To add a Cookiebot cookie banner to your site:
Sign in to your Square Dashboard and go to Sales channels > Online > Website > Site Preferences.
Select Set up cookie consent under Cookie Consent.
Choose either a free or premium banner, and select Next to continue.
Follow the prompts. If you select the premium option, paste your CBID into the CBID field.
Select Save when finished.
