Create a floor plan

This article is for restaurant managers or owners using Square for Restaurants with a Square for Restaurants Free, Plus, or Premium subscription.

Before you begin

A floor plan is a map of your restaurant’s physical seating area and helps you manage the flow of customers and checks during service.

With Square for Restaurants, you can have multiple floor plans; for example, you might use one layout during lunch service, and a different layout during dinner service.

Floor plans are created in your Square Dashboard, and you can access your floor plan from the Square Restaurants POS to take actions during service.

Build your floor plan in Square Dashboard

  1. Sign in to your Square Dashboard and click Settings > Device Management > Points of sale > Floor Plans.

  2. Click Create a Floor Plan.

  3. Enter your floor plan name and choose a location. If you only have one location, it will be selected by default.

  4. Click Done > Save.
