How Do I Report Unauthorised Account Activity?
If you notice a transaction or change made to your account that you didn’t authorise, contact us right away.
If you have security concerns about your account, please do the following:
1. Reset Your Password
Visit squareup.com/password. Choose a complex and unique password that is at least 8 characters long, with a mix of numbers, symbols and capital and lowercase letters. Avoid using your name, email address, mobile number, birthday or any other personal information in the new password. If you use the same password for other services, it’s a good idea to change those passwords as well.
2. Protect Yourself
Keep in mind that Square will not ask you to send sensitive information such as your email address, password, identification information, bank account details or debit/credit card information over email, phone or text message. Phishing emails may look similar to official emails from Square, so learn how to recognise and report phishing scams.
3. Set up 2-Step Verification
2-Step Verification – also known as two-factor authentication (2FA) is a tool that provides an extra layer of security for your Square Account, protecting your account from unauthorised access. All you’ll need is an authenticator app. Learn more about how to set up 2-step verification.
4. Contact Us if You Require Assistance
If you can’t log in with your email address and password, please contact us by submitting an Account Review request. Be sure to provide the email address and phone number associated with your Square account in the request – we’ll work with you to get you back in control of your account.
