If you can’t access your account, or your emails don’t reach their recipients, the steps below will guide you through possible issues you may encounter while accessing or managing Google Workspace through Square Online.
Before you begin

Troubleshoot Google Workspace
Follow the troubleshooting steps based on the login or account access issue you’re experiencing.
If you’re unable to log in to your Google Workspace account, sign in at admin.google.com and accept the terms of service.
For Use admin email errors, make sure you signed in with your Google admin account.
If you’re unable to access your Google Workspace account, make sure you verified your domain. Learn more about how to set up your email address with Google Workspace and Square Online for information on setting up your email address.
If you need to recover a lost password, refer to the “Recover your Google Workspace admin account” section of this article.
Send emails to an email address you can access, and if you receive the email, reply to it from that email. If you’re unable to send or receive emails:
- For Square domains: Make your MX records point to Google and your DNS records point to Square.
- For third-party domains: Contact your provider to ensure your MX records point to Google and your DNS records point to Square.
If you’re unable to renew your Google Workspace subscription, make sure your MX records point to Google and your DNS records point to Square and that your billing information is up-to-date.
For other billing issues, contact Square support to move your Google Workspace subscription out of Square’s reseller account and into direct billing with Google.
Recover your Google Workspace admin account
There’s a recovery process you can use through Google when you forget your password. Go to accounts.google.com/signin/recovery to start the verification process.
Enter a valid email address that you have access to. Google will send the password reset instructions to this email address.
You should see a page with a long string of text in bold. Copy and save that bolded text. This text is for adding a special type of record to your domain’s DNS, which Google uses to verify you’re the domain owner. Learn more about how to manage records for Square Online domains.
To set up this record with your domain hosted at Square, leave the Google verification page open in your browser and sign in to Square to access Square Online in a separate window.
- Sign in to your Square Dashboard and go to Sales channels > Online > Website > Domains.
- For the domain related to your email address, select Manage > Manage domain.
- For DNS Records, select Add DNS record.
- For Type, choose CNAME.
- For Host, paste the string of text you copied from the Google verification page.
- For Points to, enter “google.com”.
- Select Save when finished.
Go back to the Google verification page and select the button showing you’ve completed the step above. Google will send an email to the address you entered in the first step with further instructions.
Google may take 24–48 hours to send the email, but once you receive it, you can access your Google Workspace admin account.
