About packing slips

When shipping an order, you may want to include a packing slip. Packing slips are valuable for both you and your customers. A packing slip can help your staff identify the correct items to include in an order and are an extension of your brand featuring your business information and logo. For your customer, the packing slip inserted in their shipment lists the item in the package and contains the order information so they can keep track of the sale, initiate a return, or contact you for help.

Before you begin

You can print a packing slip for shipping orders with or without creating a shipping label. Packing slips automatically include:

  • Your business name, address, website, and phone number

  • Your logo image

  • The customer's name and shipping address

  • The order number and date

  • The name and any variations or modifiers for items included in the order

Create and print packing slips

You can create and print from both the Square for Retail app and your Square Dashboard. For orders created through Square Online, you can also choose which items to include on the packing slip if you're only shipping part of the order. Orders placed outside of Square Online list all items on the packing slip.
