Use Square at Your Event
We want your event to run as smoothly as possible. Review the tips below to make sure you feel prepared and comfortable using Square, so you can enjoy yourself and focus on connecting with your customers.
Internet Connection and Apps
Find out if you’ll have an internet connection on location. A strong and secure Wi-Fi or ethernet connection is best, or you can use a secure mobile hotspot network if your connection is spotty.
Make sure you’re using the most recent version of the Square app on your device to access the latest features and fixes.
Processing Payments

If you need to refund a payment, you can do so from the Square app or via the Transactions tab on your online Square Dashboard.
You can connect a receipt printer and cash drawer to Square Point of Sale to print receipts and manage your cash.

Events FAQ
With Square hardware and the Square Point of Sale app, you can process every type of payment, including debit tap, debit chip & PIN, credit cards and contactless devices. Learn more about Square payments.
Square requires an active internet connection to process payments. For mobile devices, this can be either a Wi-Fi connection or a data service such as 3G, 4G, 5G or EDGE. If you are unable to connect to a network at your event, you can enable Offline Mode to accept payments.

For your team members to enable or disable Offline Mode, they will need to have the Configure Checkout Settings box checked in their Permissions setting. Team members without this permission granted can still process payments in Offline Mode, but will be unable to enable or disable Offline Mode.
When operating in Offline Mode, there is additional risk with any payments you accept. Square is not responsible for any loss due to declined cards or expired payments taken while offline or for chargebacks. In addition, Square can not contact any customers on your behalf should a payment decline or expire when taken in Offline Mode. You will also be unable to add customers or cards on file to your offline sales.
