Accept orders from delivery and pickup apps with Square for Restaurants

Who is this article for?
This article is for owners and staff using Square for Restaurants and Square Online.

Before you begin

With partnership order integrations, you can leverage popular ordering platforms your customers already use for pickup, curbside, and delivery. Square for Restaurants directly supports Caviar and DoorDash. Chowly allows you to integrate ordering partners not directly supported by Square for Restaurants, such as Uber Eats and Grubhub.

Both Square Online and partnership platforms push online orders to the Orders tab in the Square Restaurants POS app. Employees in front of the Square Restaurants POS app can view and manage orders.

Accept new orders

Square Dashboard

  1. Sign in to your Square Dashboard and select Items & Orders > Orders.
  2. Use the filters to view Active, Completed, or All Orders.
  3. Select an order to take action.
  4. Select Mark as In Progress to update the order status to In Progress.
  5. If the order is ready for your customer to pick up, select Mark as Ready.
  6. Once your customer picks up their items, locate the order and select Mark Picked Up.

Once you complete an order, you can select View the Transaction Details to review an itemized breakdown, along with the order source. Your transaction details display at the time your customer places an order — not when you accept an order.

Restaurants POS app

When you manage orders online, all updates automatically sync with your Restaurants POS app. When a customer places an order through an integrated partner, you receive an in-app notification and the Orders tab displays the number of orders awaiting action.

  1. Select Orders > Active.
  2. Select an order from the New section and select Mark as In Progress.
  3. When the order is ready for a courier to pick up the order for delivery or for a customer to pick up, select Mark as Ready.
  4. When the order leaves your restaurant, select Mark as Picked Up to move the order to the Completed section.
