PARIS, July 12, 2021: Square, the globally trusted software, payments, and hardware solution for businesses of all sizes, is today announcing a partnership with Ulule, the largest crowdfunding platform in France, to show support for local business. The partnership coincides with Square recently announcing its Early Access Programme in France, offering exclusive access to an integrated suite of tools to seamlessly sell in-person and online.

Square and Ulule will co-sponsor a competition to find innovative, new business projects across a mix of business verticals, including food and beverage, retail, health, beauty, craft, design and technology. The competition will be virtual and is open to businesses from all over the country.

The competition will run from July 12th - September 10th and a judging panel composed of Square & Ulule team members as well as influencers such as Tookies & Marion Graux will shortlist 13 businesses, selecting a further three winners among them. All eligible finalists will receive the offer of free hardware from Square along with a €1,500 prize. The three winners will receive €5,000 as well as promotional exposure from Ulule through videos focused on their individual business stories.

Businesses taking part in the competition will be among the first in France to have the opportunity to test Square’s products. Trusted by millions of businesses around the world, Square offers all the tools sellers need to start, run, grow, or adapt, and enables them to set up online shops, take card payments in person, access earnings faster, manage inventory or a busy kitchen, and much more. With a suite of products that fully integrate with each other, Square saves businesses time, offers solutions for a multitude of complex business needs all in one place, and makes it easier to adapt and grow as needs evolve in future.

“We’re thrilled to be partnering with Ulule and to have the opportunity to engage with France’s innovative start-up community” said Jason Lalor, Executive Director for Square Europe. “Not only does this competition allow us to help small businesses grow through Square’s integrated suite of products, but it allows us to connect directly with small business owners across sectors from around the country, early on in our beta stage. We know that through this partnership we can offer the solutions that will enable French businesses to grow and prosper both in-person and online.”

“Our mission has always been to help new business communities and creators take the plunge and, more importantly, make it a success” said Valérie Brouchoud, Directrice BtoB at Ulule. “We are excited to embark on this landmark partnership with Square, allowing us to provide the tools and resources to help local start-ups to grow and make their ideas a reality.”
