Declined Purchases

Transactions are declined due to one of the following reasons:

  • Your physical card is not yet activated.

  • Entering an incorrect zip code. Double check the zip code associated with your credit card in Square Dashboard.

  • You’ve reached your credit limit.

  • Your purchase is over $25,000. If your purchase is over the maximum transaction limit, you can split your purchase into multiple transactions.

Pending Authorizations

Some businesses place a temporary charge on your card to ensure that you have enough funds to cover your purchase. Most pending authorizations clear within three days, but it can take up to 14 days to clear.

If your purchase has been pending for longer than 14 days, or was never successfully processed, please contact us.

Refunds

Refunds can take up to 10 business days to post to your account from the date the merchant issues a refund. If a refund has not been processed for 10 business days, please contact the vendor to confirm if it was processed. If they refuse to process the refund or have issues doing so, please contact us or file a dispute for the charge.

Disputes

You can file a dispute for any authorized transaction on your credit card within 60 days after the disputed item appears on your statement. Before filing a dispute, please consider contacting the vendor directly to request a refund as the refund process typically takes less time than filing a dispute.
