Receive Bill Pay payments as a vendor

Who is this article for?
Vendors or suppliers that want to receive a Bill Pay payment from a Square seller.

About receiving Bill Pay payments as a vendor

As a vendor or supplier, you can receive payments from Square merchants by ACH bank transfer or by check. A digital check is a check in PDF format that Square emails to you on behalf of the merchant. You can then download, print, and make a mobile check deposit.

Before you begin

  • On the scheduled Bill Pay payment date, you’ll receive an email to accept a digital check if the Square merchant hasn’t already recorded your bank account details.

  • You’ll receive an email from Square with payment information to keep you updated on when the payment was scheduled and when it was processed.

  • For ACH bank transfers, once a payment is initiated by the Square merchant, the funds will arrive in your bank account within 1-2 business days.

  • Digital and paper check payments remain valid for 90 days from the date of issuance.

For assistance with receiving Bill Pay payments, contact the Square merchant directly.

Receive bank transfer payments

If a Square merchant has your bank account details on file your payment will be deposited automatically, no action is required on your part. You'll receive an email from Square confirming when the payment was initiated and when it will arrive.

If the Square merchant doesn't have your bank account details on file, you'll receive an email from Square asking how you'd like to receive your payment. You can choose to receive payment by ACH bank transfer or by digital check.

  1. Open the email from Square and click Accept payment.

  2. Select Bank transfer and enter your bank routing and account numbers on the secure Square webpage.

Your bank account details will be stored securely with Square and used for future payments from this merchant.
