Get Started with Square Assistant on Square Appointments

With this automated assistant, your clients will be able to respond directly to SMS appointment reminders and confirm, reschedule, or cancel upcoming appointments. It will automatically update your Square Appointments calendar, and save you time managing your Square Appointments.

To have the best experience possible using Square Assistant, please download the latest update from the App Store or Google Play on your mobile device.

Enable Square Assistant

You can enable Square Assistant at any time from your Square Appointments Dashboard on a computer, or from the Square Appointments app on your mobile device.

From the Square Appointments Dashboard

  1. Go to the Settings tab of your Square Appointments Dashboard.
  2. Select Communications and toggle on Square Assistant.

Note: By default, Square Assistant will be enabled for most merchants. This feature is only available for merchants with online booking.

From the Square Appointments App

Open the Square Appointments app on your mobile device, and go to Settings > Customer Notifications and toggle on this feature.

From Square Register

Make sure you are signed into Square Appointments on your Square Register, and go to Settings > Customer Communication and toggle on this feature.

Disable Square Assistant

From the Square Appointments Dashboard

  1. Go to the Settings tab of your Square Appointments Dashboard.
  2. Select Communications and toggle off Square Assistant.

From the Square Appointments App

Open the Square Appointments app on your mobile device, and go to Settings > Customer Notifications and toggle off this feature.

From Square Register

Make sure you are signed into Square Appointments on your Square Register, and go to Settings > Customer Communication and toggle off this feature.

Cancellation Policy

If a client attempts to cancel or reschedule outside the allowed window, they will see an error message similar to the one that’s displayed on your online booking site when they attempt to cancel too late. If you handle all appointment changes yourself, Square Assistant will respect that policy.

Note: Classes are not compatible with this feature.
