Square Stand Kit Setup Guide
Square Stand works with any of Square’s point-of-sale software solutions, including the Point of Sale app. Square Stand now comes in two sizes to accommodate even more iPad models, including the latest 10.2” iPad. The latest versions of Square Stand are compatible with the following iPad models. Please ensure you select the correct model for your iPad when purchasing:
iPad (8th generation 2020)
iPad (7th generation 2019)
iPad (6th generation 2018)
iPad (5th generation 2017)
iPad Pro 10.5”
iPad Pro 9.7”
iPad Air (3rd generation 2019)
iPad Air 2 (2014)
iPad Air (1st generation 2013)
The latest versions of Square Stand are not compatible with the following iPad models:
iPad Air (4th generation)
iPad (1st generation)
iPad Pro 12.9”
iPad Pro 11”
iPad mini (all versions)
When ordering your Stand from Square Shop, ensure you know which iPad model you have so we can pair you with the correct version of Stand. If you’re not sure, you can find out what iPad model you have in the Apple Support Center.

What You Need to Get Started
If you purchased the optional Ethernet kitchen printer, you also need an Ethernet Internet connection (e.g., cable modem, router, and Ethernet cable).
Follow these steps to assemble your kit:
Step 1. Download our free point-of-sale app
If you haven’t already, download Square Point of Sale from the App Store to your iPad.
Step 2. Connect to Wi-Fi
Head into the Wi-Fi settings on your iPad, choose your router’s network, and wait a few seconds for the signals to communicate. If you’re having trouble connecting, unplug the router’s power cord and Ethernet cable, then plug everything back in.
Step 3. Secure your iPad
Be sure your Square Stand is connected to the USB hardware hub (included) and plugged into a power outlet. Slide your iPad into Square Stand, and secure it by inserting the included security pin into the headset jack.
Keep in mind, Square Stand allows you to take card payments without connecting to a power outlet. However, USB accessories are not supported in this mode.

Step 4. Connect what you need via USB
Plug your Dock for Square Reader, receipt printer, and bar code scanner (optional) into the USB hardware hub that comes with your Square Stand.
Step 5. Slide in your Square Reader
Insert your Square Reader for contactless and chip into the Dock for Square Reader. The dock powers your reader.
Step 6. Set up your cash drawer
Take the interface cable (labeled CD-014A) from the cash drawer packaging. The larger end plugs into the bottom of your cash drawer, and the smaller end plugs into the DK port on the back of your receipt printer.
Your Square app is designed to automatically open the cash drawer after every cash sale. Or you can use the included manager keys to manually open the cash drawer.
Step 7. Connect your kitchen printer (optional)
Connect one end of the Ethernet cable into your kitchen printer and the other end into another of your router’s output ports. Plug your printer into a power source, then switch on the power.
Step 8. Add paper to your printer(s)
Lift the lever on the top-right side of your printer, open it up, and rest the printer paper inside. The trick is to keep the roll underhand, leave a little slack, and then shut the top with some paper sticking out. Once you get a solid green light, it’s good to go.
Step 9. Test it out
Open your Square Point of Sale app. Tap the three lines on the bottom left to access the Settings sidebar menu.
Tap Settings > Hardware > Printers. From here, you’ll be able to create printer stations. Select your printer from the list and make sure to turn on Receipts, Order Tickets, and/or Order Ticket Stubs.
Then tap Cash Drawers, select your cash drawer, and tap Test Cash Drawer to make sure it pops open automatically.
Then tap Bar Code Scanners and make sure your scanner appears in the list of connected devices. Test it by scanning a bar code.
