Deposit Options with Square
With Square, you can choose when to receive your funds. We offer a couple of options – our standard deposit schedule, a custom deposit schedule (tailored by you to your business hours), or transferring your funds to your Square Card.
Square doesn’t have deposit limits with our standard or custom schedules. We won’t hold funds based on the amount, frequency, or type of transaction.

Standard Next Business Day Deposit
When you activate your Square Point of Sale account, link a bank account, and begin accepting card payments, we’ll deposit funds according to our standard schedule. All Square merchants start with our standard deposit schedule.
With this schedule, funds are usually deposited within 36 hours or 1-2 business days of a transaction. Learn more about our standard deposit schedule and review daily deposit times.
Custom Close of Day Time
If your business has unique hours, you can customize the time you’d like transactions grouped for daily deposit. This is called your close of day time.
Setting a close of day time ensures you’ll receive a single deposit for a full day’s payment activity – making bookkeeping a breeze. Read more about customizing your close of day time.
Square Card is a free business debit card that is connected to your Square balance. When you take a payment on Square, that’s money you can spend using the Square Card, without the wait and fees associated with transferring your funds out of your balance.
You can also choose to transfer those funds out of your Square balance to your linked bank account. Read more about transferring funds to your bank account.
The quickest way to get your money is to take advantage of Square’s Instant Deposits.
Sometimes you need your money immediately – that’s when Instant Deposit can help. If available on your account, you can instantly send funds to your linked bank account using a debit card 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for a fee per deposit. View the Instant Deposit fee from Settings > Deposits in the Square app and Account & Settings > Business > Deposits in your online Square Dashboard.
While Instant Deposits are easy to send to your bank account you will need a few things before you can get started:
- Link a bank account and a supported U.S.-issued Visa or MasterCard debit card to your Square account.
- Make sure you have at least $25, after processing fees, in your Square Balance.
Once you’ve set your account up for instant deposits, you can start receiving your money immediately!

Note: New sellers start with a limit of one instant deposit per day of up to $500. As you run and grow your business with Square, a higher daily deposit amount may become available.
Same-Day Deposit has the speed of Instant Deposits, without the hassle. If you routinely need your funds faster than one to two business days, Same-Day Deposit may be available to automatically deposit your funds at your close of day. Using a debit card, funds are sent to your linked bank account for a fee per deposit.
Your funds will routinely be sent to your linked debit card 15 minutes after your close of day, every day.
To use Same-Day Deposit, you must have a minimum balance of $1 after Square’s fees. You can send payments as large as $10,000. If your daily balance exceeds $10,000, you’ll receive multiple deposits from Square. There is one exception: Individual payments greater than $10,000 won’t be sent via Same-Day Deposit or Instant Deposit. When this occurs, these payments will be sent via Next Business Day deposit and will be available within one to two business days to your linked bank account.
Because Same-Day Deposit works just like Instant Deposits, any funds which do not qualify will be sent on our Next Day Deposit Schedule.
Note: New sellers will be limited to one Same-Day Deposit up to $10,000 per day. As you run and grow your business with Square, a higher daily deposit amount may become available.

By default, your funds will be deposited to your bank account every night, from Sunday to Thursday.
Instead of automatic deposits, you can enable manual deposits to choose when to transfer your money. Your funds will be available in your Square balance, and you can decide when to transfer them to your linked bank account. Your funds will then arrive in your bank account the next business day—at no extra cost.
You are able to pause automatic nightly deposits and change to manual deposits, directly from your online Square Dashboard, or from the Square app.
- Navigate to Settings in your online Square Dashboard or Square Point of Sale app.
- Select Deposits.
- Under Deposit Schedule > select Manual.
