Export card on file data to third party payment processors
About exporting card on file data
If you are moving from Square to another payment processor, Square can help migrate your customer card on file records (primary account number data) to that provider. Per PCI regulations, we can only directly transfer the data to another PCI DSS Level 1-compliant payment processor.
Before you begin
Before you start the process, the Square account owner must call Square Support for account ownership verification.
You can also work with your new payment processor to access your data via Square's public APIs.
The average card export timeframe is up to two weeks.
Export card on file data
To have your card on file data exported:
To begin your export request, please contact Square Support at 1800 904 846 between Monday to Friday 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
A representative from Square Support will verify ownership of your account and confirm your request to export card data.
Once we've verified ownership, Square will begin the process of exporting your customer card on file information. It may take up to two weeks to complete this process.
Square will send an encrypted file to your new payment processor in the following CSV format (the “card_id” and “customer_id” refer to Square's ID for these entities):
card_id,pan,expiration,postal_code,customer_id
ccof:1,4111111111111111,2021-12,12345,square_customer_id_1
ccof:2,4111111111111111,2030-01,54321,square_customer_id_2
