Square Point of Sale Beta for iOS
The Square Preview Programme for iOS allows you to test-drive our newest features. As a beta tester, you get our latest code updates and help us improve the Square experience for everyone.
To run the Square beta app, make sure you’re running iOS 8.0 or higher.
Download the Square Point of Sale beta app for iOS
To run the Square beta app, make sure you’re running iOS 8.0 or higher on your iOS device.
Visit www.squareup.com/beta/register on your mobile device(s).
Enter the invite code trybeta and tap Install.
If you’re running iOS 9, you will the following prompt:
To trust the app, visit Settings > General.
From an iOS device, tap Profiles > Device Management.
Under Enterprise apps, select Square’s profile.
Tap Profile > Trust.
The Square Point of Sale beta app will have blue stripes within the Square logo. Open it, log in, and double-check your printer settings— you’re good to go. Make sure to inform your coworkers that you’re using the beta version when necessary.
While we welcome you to download the beta app, some early features are available by invitation only. Contact our Preview Program and let us know more about the features you’d like to see with Square.
Update the Register Beta Application
When Square releases new versions, you’ll see an update notification in the beta application.
Update notifications appear once every 4 hours until you update to the latest version. You can dismiss update notifications for up to a week after the first one appears. If you ignore the prompts, you download the beta app again, to manually update the app.
Upon deleting and reinstalling the beta app, be sure to check your settings, including printer settings, as these aren’t saved.
Keep the beta app up-to-date. You can manually update the app at any time to ensure you’re running the latest version.Should you encounter any issues with the latest beta app update, please report them and revert back to the App Store version of Square Point of Sale.

If you notice a glitch with the Square beta app or your mobile device, try the following troubleshooting tips:
Make sure that both your mobile device and the app are up to date.
Sign out and back in to the app.
Turn your mobile device off and on.
Force quit the app on your device.
Delete and reinstall the beta application. See steps above for Install the beta.
