Royalty report with Square for Franchises
About royalties & fees
With Square for Franchises, you can calculate fees such as royalties, marketing expenditure, and more to help give you a better understanding of your business’ revenue streams. You can set custom fees under a percentage or fixed rate with the included predetermined formulas.
Before you begin
Before you can begin viewing your royalty report, you must create a royalty fee first. You can set up a royalty fee from your Square for franchises dashboard by:
Navigate to Reports > Royalties & Fees.
Click Create royalty fee. If you have previously created fees, click Add rate.
Once a fee has been created, you can edit it at any time by clicking on the fee to open the “New fee” screen. Click Save once all edits are completed.
- From the “New fee” screen, add a Name for your fee.
- Click Percentage.
- Under “Royalty calculator,” choose a Calculation base. By default, you have the option to choose a percentage based on your Gross sales or Net sales.
- Enter a Rate.
- Under “Assigned locations,” click Assign to assign your fee to a location(s) > click Save.
- Click Create.
- From the “New fee” screen, add a Name for your fee.
- Click Fixed.
- Under “Royalty calculator,” enter a Royalty fee per location.
- Choose a Cadence. By default, you’ll have the option to choose a Weekly, Monthly, or Quarterly cadence.
- Under “Assigned locations,” click Assign to assign your fee to a location(s) > click Save.
- Click Create.
Note: After creating a fixed fee, the fee will only show in the report if the cadence has fully completed in the date range selected.
For example, a $50 per week fixed fee:
- If 7 days are selected in the date range, $50 will show in the report as a full week has been selected.
- If 8 days are selected in the date range, $50 will show in the report as only a single full week has been selected.
- If 14 days are selected in the date range, $100 will show in the report as two full weeks have been selected.
View your royalty report
You can view your royalty report at any from your Square for franchises dashboard by navigating to Reports > Royalties.
Your royalty report will show an overview of your royalties, royalty fees, and a royalties summary. You can filter this report by Date, Location, Location Groups, or Time zone. You can also click Export to export a copy of your report for your records. Your report updates in real time based on the date range and other filters you select. If you filter your report to a time before you had sales or fees configured, your report will show $0 during that time period.
