Manage Notifications with the Square for Retail app

With Square for Retail, you have access to an in-app Notification Center that centralizes all your notifications across the Square for Retail app. You can receive and read account alerts, new feature announcements, and Square news — all from one easy-to-access place.

Note: Notification Center is currently available for Square for Retail on iOS devices (iPhone and iPad). It is not available for Square Register at this time.

Account Notifications

Account notifications like order alerts, disputes, and sales trends are indicated by a blue numbered badge overlaying the navigation menu.

Your POS Notifications

Your POS notifications, such as insights on how to improve your POS and new product features, are indicated by a blue badge overlaying the navigation menu.

Urgent Notifications

Urgent notifications such as a frozen account are indicated by a red warning badge overlaying the navigation menu. An urgent notification badge is also larger than other account notifications.

View Notifications

To view your notifications in the Notification Center:

  1. Open the Square for Retail app.

  2. Tap the three horizontal lines to open the navigation menu.

  3. Tap Notifications.

  4. You can then view notifications for:

    1. Account: Notifications relating to your Square account.

    2. Your POS: Notifications about Square Point of Sale updates, products, and services.

  5. Tap on any notification to review and resolve it.

Note: To remove notification badges, you must view all your notifications in Notification Center.

Retail Insights Notifications

Use Retail Insights notifications to optimize your business sales and stock trends and better manage your inventory. Check to see if any of your top-selling items or categories have changed in a given time period, or check for slow-selling items. See what your sales looked like during the holiday season last year, so you know how to best prepare for this holiday season. Retail Insights are automatically turned on for your account. 

To disable Retail Insights notifications:

  1. Log in to your online Square Dashboard.

  2. Click on Items & Orders > Items.

  3. Select Settings > Inventory.

  4. From here, you can toggle off insights by category.
