Create a Printer Station on Android and Square Register
Printer stations allow you to send menu items or receipts to different printers. Use Printer Stations to save your settings to your Android device, Square Register, or Square Terminal with Hub for Square Terminal, and easily swap between connected compatible printers.
Printer Settings
When creating a printer station on your device, you can use printers to:
When you enable Use this printer for receipts, your printer will print bills, reports and open cash drawers. You can choose to print receipts manually or automatically.
Note: Automatically printing receipts will bypass the receipt screen and disable digital receipts. To send a digital receipt, go back into the Transactions tab.
When you enable Use printer for in-person order tickets, you can use order tickets to send orders to prep stations. Order tickets will print automatically after checkout. You can also configure the following settings:
- Single item per ticket: This setting overrides grouping items and automatically prints each item, ungrouped, on its own ticket.
- Combine identical items: Items with the same details will be automatically combined to form one line item.
- Print kitchen names: Items, variations or modifiers printed from this station will print with their kitchen names. Kitchen names can be set up on your online Square Dashboard.
- Compact tickets: This setting removes the margin at the top of the ticket to reduce printer paper usage.
- Categories to print: Order tickets include all items. You can create categories to specify which items to print on the order ticket.
When you enable Use this printer for online order tickets, you can use online order tickets to send online orders to prep stations. You can also configure the following settings:

Ethernet Printer
Locate your wireless router with Ethernet port and make sure you have a strong Wi-Fi signal.
Connect one end of the Ethernet cable to the rear panel of the printer, and plug the other end of the cable into the wireless router’s Ethernet port.
From the Square app, tap ≡ More on the bottom right of Square Register.
Tap Settings > Hardware > Printers > Create Printer Station.
Tap Printer and select your printer.
Tap Print Test. If a receipt prints, you’re properly connected.
In the section Use this printer for, toggle on what you’d like to print depending on your needs: Receipts, In-person order tickets, Online order tickets, Order ticket stubs and Void tickets.
Tap Save.
To connect multiple devices to the same Ethernet printer, follow these steps with each device. You can also print copies of the same receipt to multiple printers from one device.
Note: Your printer must have an Ethernet interface. You can order swappable interfaces but be sure to request the Ethernet connection type on your printer.
Wi-Fi Printer
Ensure your device is connected to your Wi-Fi network.
From the Square app, tap More on the bottom right of Square Register.
Tap Settings > Hardware > Printers > Create Printer Station.
Enter a printer station name.
Tap Printer and select your printer.
Make sure the receipt printer and your device are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. To test your connection, tap Test Print.
In the section Use this printer for, toggle on what you’d like to print depending on your needs: Receipts, In-person order tickets, Online order tickets, Order ticket stubs and Void tickets.
Tap Save.
USB Printer for Square Stand and Register
Plug your supported USB receipt printer into a power source.
Plug your USB cable from your printer into the Hub.
From the Square Point of Sale app, tap ≡ More on the bottom right of Square Register.
Tap Settings > Hardware > Printers > Create Printer Station.
Enter a printer station name.
Tap Printer and select your USB printer. To test your printer connection, tap Test Print.
In the section Use this printer for, toggle on what you’d like to print depending on your needs: Receipts, In-person order tickets, Online order tickets, Order ticket stubs and Void tickets.
Tap Save.

Bluetooth Printer
From your Square Register, tap Settings > Hardware > Printers.
Tap Create Printer Station.
Enter a name for your printer station a name.
Tap Select Printer > Bluetooth printer > Print Test.
If the print test is successful, tap the back arrow to select what you will use this printer for, like receipts, or order tickets.
Tap Save.
