Create a floor plan section
Before you begin
Sections are groupings of tables that can represent the different areas within your restaurant layout, like Dining Room, Bar and Outdoor Patio. In addition to sections helping manage the flow of service, you can also access restaurant-specific reporting that tracks the performance of the different sections of your restaurant – for example, sales at the bar vs in the dining room.
While subscribers to Square for Restaurants Free can create sections to complete their floor plan, only Square for Restaurants Plus or Premium subscribers can access section sales reporting.
Add sections to your floor plan
Adding sections to your floor plan gives you access to more specific reporting about different areas of your restaurant.
Sign in to your Square Dashboard and click Settings > Device Management > Points of sale > Floor Plans > Sections.
Click Create a Section.
Enter your section name and choose a location.
Add details about the tables in that section. You can enter the number of tables and an optional label and determine whether to give your tables custom names or auto-generate names based on your section name.
Click Save.
To remove or rename a table, click on the section name in your Floor Plan or in Sections.
Design your floor plan
Customizing your floor plan in Square Dashboard can help you manage the flow of service via table mapping in Square Restaurants POS.
Sign in to your Square Dashboard and click Settings > Device Management > Points of sale > Floor Plans.
Access your desired floor plan.
Click on a numbered square and add it to your floor plan.
Once your tables are added to your floor plan, you can click each one to move a table and change the size and shape of a table to mirror your restaurant’s physical layout.
To remove a table from a floor plan, click on a table and press Delete or click on the trash can icon. Deleting a table on the floor plan layout will not delete the data.
Complete your floor plan and click Save.
