About customising your checkout experience

In the Square Retail POS app you can customise your checkout display from settings in order to personalise it to best suit your business.

You have three main checkout settings you can customise from the Square Retail POS app.

Customise variations, options and modifiers display: You can customise how variations, options and modifiers are presented at checkout. These settings apply to all of your items. Quick select is the best option for most sellers, but expanded view works well if you have many variations and modifiers per item. Select fulfilment methods: You can select which fulfilment methods are displayed at checkout. If you need to learn more about setting up fulfilment methods, check out the support article set up fulfilment options.
Set up a negative stock warning: A warning appears when you add an item to the cart and there isn’t enough stock to fulfil the order. This can happen when you create an order for this location or for a different one. In addition, you have the following options in the checkout settings of the app.

Quick amounts: Speed your sales by adding frequently charged amounts to your checkout keypad.
Sales taxes: Create or edit sales taxes.
Offline payments: Allow offline payments.
Tipping: Set up and customise tipping preferences.
Signature and receipts: Choose whether to sign on the device or on the printed receipt, or toggle to skip the receipt screen.
Payment sounds: Toggle on or off your payment sounds.

Open the Retail POS app and tap ≡ More from the navigation bar.
Tap Settings > Checkout.
Tap Quick select or Expanded view. Quick select is recommended if you have 6 or fewer variations, options and modifiers for most items, while Expanded view is recommended if you offer many variations, options and modifiers for most items.
