Square for Restaurants on Square Register
You are able to use Square for Restaurants Free directly from your Square Register and take advantage of Restaurant features.
Sign in to Square for Restaurants on Square Register
To get started for the first time with Square for Restaurants on Square Register:
Sign in using your email and password or create a Restaurant device code from your online Square Dashboard.
Once you have created a Restaurant device code, sign in by tapping Device Code in the top corner of the Register screen.
After you’ve logged in to Square Register, you can start taking payments.
If this is your first time using the Square Register and you’ve already set it up, make sure to check for an update by tapping Utilities > Settings > Hardware > General > About Register > Software Update.
If you have already been accepting payments on Square Register using Square Point of Sale, simply sign out of each device and sign in with a Restaurants device code.
The keypad widget is a quick tool to add custom amounts to an order, adjust the quantities of items or to use as a calculator.
Order Manager helps you keep an eye on your orders with three live statuses: New orders, In progress and Ready. Incoming orders that need action will show up in green along with the number of new orders. New orders will stay green until the order status is updated. You can tap any of the three status options to launch the Orders page with the selected status in focus.
Note: You must enable orders on your device settings on your Square Dashboard to see the Order Manager widget.
Stay on top of your current stock with the item availability widget. This read-only list shows you unavailable items and items with a low count. To get a closer look, select the View All button or one of the items listed.
Restaurants Feature Availability on Register
Keep in mind that only Square for Restaurants Free features are available on your Register. When upgrading from Restaurants Free to Restaurants Plus or Premium plans, the paid features are currently not available on Register. But if you do upgrade, you will have access to Plus Dashboard features like Category Rollup Reports and Menu Reports.
