About Skip the Dishes and Square
Skip the Dishes is an online food ordering and delivery platform available in Canada. The Skip the Dishes integration with Square allows you to connect your Skip the Dishes account to Square so delivery orders flow directly into your Square account. The integration is included at no extra cost with any Square for Restaurants subscription.
With this integration, you can:
Sync your Square menus to your Skip the Dishes store.
Receive Skip the Dishes orders directly in Square, including on Order Manager, Square KDS and connected printers.
Manage orders from one centralized place.
Before you begin
The Skip the Dishes integration is partner-built and hosted by Skip the Dishes. You won’t find Skip the Dishes in Square Dashboard. Instead, you’ll set up and manage the integration through Skip the Dishes.
You need an existing Skip the Dishes restaurant account before you can activate the integration.
You must have at least one menu created in your Square account. Learn how to create and update menus.
We recommend activating the integration when your business is closed or not providing service.
Set up the integration
The Skip the Dishes integration uses a self-serve onboarding flow hosted by Skip the Dishes. To connect your Square account:
Navigate to the Square integration setup page: https://square.skipthedishes.com and select Connect .
Follow the prompts to authorize Skip the Dishes to access your Square account.
Select the Square location and menus you want to sync to your Skip the Dishes store.
Review your menu details and confirm the setup.
Once the integration is activated, your Square menus will sync to Skip the Dishes and orders placed on Skip the Dishes will flow into your Square account.
Manage the integration
Because the Skip the Dishes integration is partner-built, you’ll manage integration settings—including menu syncing, store hours and disconnecting—through your Skip the Dishes merchant portal. Any updates you make to items or menus in Square will automatically sync to Skip the Dishes.
Eighty-sixing an item in Square will make the item unavailable on Skip the Dishes.
Unsupported integration features
The following features are not supported with the Skip the Dishes and Square integration:
Driver lookup: Driver status is not shared through the integration.
Contacting customers directly: To communicate with a customer, you’ll need to go through Skip the Dishes merchant portal.
Item substitutions: To substitute items in an order, you’ll need to go through the Skip the Dishes merchant portal.
