Troubleshoot menus on your website
If your menu or menu groups don’t appear on your website as expected, this could be caused by a few scenarios.
Before you begin
Ensure your items already meet the necessary online visibility requirements. Learn how to set up items for your website and troubleshoot items not visible on your website.
There isn’t a way to rearrange top level menus at this time – only menu groups.
Troubleshoot duplicate categories on your live site
If you’re experiencing unexplained duplicate categories appearing on your live website, there could be some carryover from the previous categories settings affecting your site. To resolve:
Sign in to Square Dashboard and go to Online > Websites (or Online store).
Click Website > Edit site.
Click the Page dropdown menu.
For the Order Online page, click ••• > Switch template and choose Shop All.
Go back to Square Dashboard and go to Items & services (or Items & menus or Items & inventory) > Items > Categories.
Click any category that is visible on your site and hide it by toggling off the website option. Save your changes.
Go back to the site editor and switch your Shop All page back to the Order Online template.
Publish your site to see the changes live.
Troubleshoot category images not displaying on your live site
If images for your categories are no longer appearing on your website, this is because the original category images (from the Categories dashboard) didn’t sync to the Menus dashboard. You’ll need to re-add those images to each menu group so they reappear on your live site. To resolve:
Sign in to Square Dashboard and go to Items & services (or Items & menus or Items & inventory) > Menus.
Expand any menu group without an image and click ••• > Edit menu group details.
Under the image option, drag in an image file, or click upload or browse image library to add an image to the menu group.
Click Save.
Troubleshoot items not appearing on the Order Online page
There are a few setup issues specific to the Menus dashboard that could cause this. Follow these instructions in sequential order:
Ensure items are assigned to a menu or menu group.
Check that the desired menus have been enabled for your website(s).
Check that the desired menus have been enabled to the same location(s) where orders will be fulfilled from.
