Make online purchases with Square Card
When making purchases online with your Square Card, you may be asked to confirm your transaction in your Square app before it can be completed. This additional authentication step helps safeguard against fraud and keep your money secure.
Confirm Your Square Card Online Purchases
If you receive a notification asking to confirm your Square Card purchase, you can approve or deny the transaction by following these steps:
From the Square app:
Navigate to the Balance tab > Square Card.
Confirm your identity via face or touch authentication, or by entering your device PIN.
Enter the one-time password sent to your mobile device by SMS.
View the pending transaction at the top of your screen.
Click to approve or decline the transaction in question.
Return to the merchant checkout and complete your transaction.
Note: if you are using Square for Restaurants, Square for Retail or Square Appointments you will need to download the Square Dashboard app to verify your purchases.
Lock Your Square Card
If you receive a notification to confirm an online transaction you did not make, you should deny the transaction and lock your Square Card from your Square Dashboard or the Square app. To lock your card:
From your Square Dashboard:
Navigate to the Balance tab of your Square Dashboard.
Click the gear icon and select Square Card settings.
Toggle on Lock card.
From the Square app:
Navigate to the Balance tab.
Scroll down and tap Manage > Square Card.
Toggle on Lock card.
Cancel Your Square Card
If you are concerned your card is compromised, you should deactivate your Square Card immediately and order a new one in your Square Dashboard or the Square app. To do so:
From your online Square Dashboard:
Navigate to the Balance tab of your Square Dashboard.
Click the gear icon and select Square Card settings.
Select Problem with card > My card was stolen.
Under Replace card select Yes.
Select Deactivate card and replace and another card will be posted to you.
From the Square app:
Navigate to the Balance tab.
Scroll down and tap Manage > Square Card.
Tap Problem with card > My card was stolen.
Tap Deactivate card and a new card will be posted to you.
