Understand Square organization membership for Square Multi-Account Suite
A Square organization is a group of linked Square accounts managed by a central operator, such as a franchisor, corporate parent or brand headquarters. The operator account coordinates shared capabilities across all member accounts in the organization.
If a member merchant sees “Member of [Organization Name]” in Square Dashboard, the account is part of a Square organization. This means the operator merchant manages certain shared features and settings on behalf of that account.
Organization membership does not change a member merchant's ownership of their Square account. Member merchants still control their own account credentials, payment processing and day-to-day operations.
Before you begin
Organization membership is established when a member merchant account is added to the organization by the Square account team. Member merchants cannot add or remove themselves from an organization on their own.
Review the Square Multi-Account Suite Terms of Service for the full terms governing organization membership.
Understand what the operator merchant can manage
The operator merchant can manage the following shared capabilities across the organization:
Menus and catalogue: Shared menus, items, modifier sets, services and discounts across member merchant locations.
Organization reports: Sales and performance data across all member merchants and locations.
Gift cards: A shared gift card program that lets customers purchase and redeem gift cards across participating locations. Available in the US, Australia and Canada.
Third-party apps: Operator merchants can authenticate select third-party applications on behalf of all members within an organization.
