Create vanity code vouchers

  • About vanity code vouchers

With Square Marketing, you can easily create voucher codes (promo codes) for both in-person and online sales. Use them to promote specific items, item categories or special Christmas sales.

Unlike regular voucher codes that usually have random letters and numbers, you can create vanity codes that are easy to remember and match the theme of a promotion or sale (like ‘BigHolidayPromo’). Once created, share the code through an email campaign, in-store or on your website.

    Before you begin

    • You can create vanity code vouchers – a free feature – from Square Dashboard.

    • For best results, voucher codes should be unique and not reused. This can help prevent code misuse, enable precise code tracking and allow for more personalised offers.

    • Customers can only use one online voucher code at a time while checking out from your website or payment link.

    • Codes aren’t case-sensitive, which means the voucher codes ‘SAVE10’ and ‘save10’ will both apply the same discount.

    • Marketing vouchers that are redeemed online won’t appear in reporting until the corresponding order is marked Complete.

Vouchers can apply to both in-person and online sales, but some only apply to one or the other. For example, percentage-off vouchers only apply in-store, while limiting vouchers to sales over a certain amount only applies to sales made on your website. For details, make sure you review all information icons as you create your voucher.

    Create vanity code vouchers

    1. Sign in to Square Dashboard and go to Customers > Marketing > Vouchers.

    2. Click Create Voucher to complete details such as voucher code, voucher type, when it applies and the expiry date.

    3. Click Activate.

    Cancel and duplicate vouchers

    1. Sign in to Square Dashboard and go to Customers > Marketing > Vouchers.

    2. Under an active voucher code, click ••• > Cancel voucher. The voucher status will change from Active to Expired.

    3. Under an expired voucher code, click ••• > Duplicate.

When you choose to duplicate an expired voucher, you’ll be creating a brand new voucher with the same information as the expired one. You can edit any of the voucher details as needed.
