Scales Beta Guide

Learn how to connect and troubleshoot supported scales with Square Point of Sale.

To get started you will need a compatible scale and a RS232-to-USB cable. As the cables are tricky to source, we will be sending beta sellers the cables. Please email beta-uk@squareup.com if you have not yet ordered a cable from us.

This scale integration allows you to connect scales to Point of Sale. Items can be weighed and the unit total and price will automatically populate on the Point of Sale. When a scale is connected, a pop-up box showing the unit total and price will appear for 2 seconds when items are added to cart.

Our scale integration in the UK allows  weighed items to be sold per gram (g) or kilogram (kg). On Square Point of Sale you are able to use other units of measurement but only g/kg should be used. You can configure  the measurement type of your items in the Items section of Square Point of Sale or Dashboard.
