Get Started with Square Card
Square Card is a free business spending card that is connected to your Square balance. Take a payment, and the money you earn will be reflected in your balance in real time and ready to spend on your Square Card. You can spend with your Square Card anywhere internationally where Mastercard® cards are accepted (including in person, online and at ATMs).
It’s 100% free to order and personalise your Square Card, and it’s free to use your card to make purchases.
Order Your Square Card
You can order your Square Card directly from your Square app or from your Square Dashboard. Your new Square Card will typically arrive within five working days.
From your online Square Dashboard:
Navigate to the Balance tab of your Square Dashboard.
Select Square Card > Get your Square Card.
Tap on Get started.
Enter your mobile phone number.
Enter the two-factor authentication code received and tap Verify.
Tap the tick box to read and agree to our terms of service, and then hit I agree.
Verify that your name and business name match the account owner’s name on Square. For security reasons, Square Cards will only be issued to the account owners.
Customise your Square Card.
Verify your delivery address.
Create your four-digit PIN.
From the Square app:
Navigate to the Balance tab > Square Card.
Tap on Get started.
Enter your mobile phone number.
Enter the two-factor authentication code received and tap Verify.
Tap the tick box to read and agree to our terms of service, and then hit I agree.
Verify that your name and business name match the account owner’s name on Square. For security reasons, Square Cards will only be issued to the account owners.

Create your four-digit PIN.
Once you order a Square Card, and before it arrives in the post, you can get access to your funds by using the virtual Square Card. The virtual card can also be added to Google Pay. Learn how to add your Square Card to your digital wallet.
Note: once you have signed up to Square Card, all sales proceeds will automatically start accruing in the Square Card balance and will no longer be settled to your external linked bank account. You can manually transfer funds to your linked bank account with standard transfers or instant transfers at any time by navigating to the Balance section of your Square app or online Square Dashboard.
Activate Your Square Card
Once your Square Card arrives, you can activate it directly from your Square app, online Square Dashboard or by heading to squareup.com/activatecard.
To activate your Square Card from your online Square Dashboard:
Navigate to the Balance tab of your Square Dashboard
Click on Square Card > Activate physical card.
Enter your Square Card CVC and expiry date and hit Continue.
To activate your Square Card from the Square app:
Navigate to the Balance tab > Square Card.
Tap Activate physical card.
Enter your Square Card CVC and expiry date and hit Continue.
To activate your Square Card with a QR code:
Open the envelope containing your Square Card and scan the QR code with the camera on your mobile device.
Select the link that appears.
Enter your Square Card expiry date and CVC and hit Continue.
Once you complete these steps, your physical Square Card will be instantly activated and ready to start using.
Use Your Square Card for Online Purchases
When making purchases online with your Square Card, you may be asked to confirm your transaction in your Square app before it can be completed. This additional authentication step helps safeguard against fraud and keep your money secure.
If you receive a notification asking to confirm your Square Card purchase, you can approve or deny the transaction by following these steps:
From the Square app:
Navigate to the Balance tab > Square Card.
Confirm your identity via face or touch authentication, or by entering your device PIN.
Enter the one-time password sent to your mobile device by text message.
View the pending transaction at the top of your screen.
Click to approve or decline the transaction in question.
Return to the merchant checkout and complete your transaction.
Note: if you are using Square for Restaurants, Square for Retail or Square Appointments you will need to download the Square Dashboard app to verify your purchases.

Square Card Spending Limits
The maximum you can spend using your Square Card is £10,000 per transaction, £25,000 per day and £150,000 per month.
Note: daily limits reset at 17:01, weekly limits are reset on Sundays at 17:01 and monthly limits reset at 17:01 on the last day of each month.
If you’re using your Square Card to withdraw cash, please note there are daily and monthly withdrawal limits and the limits applicable to your Square Card may be viewed from the Balance section of your Square app or online Square Dashboard.
Please note: Square does not charge you any ATM fees, but ATM providers may charge you a fee when you make withdrawals. Some ATMs may also apply their own limits to cash withdrawals, particularly abroad.
