This page will serve as your resource for product updates and communication highlighting what Square is doing to support business owners navigate these unique challenges. We will be sharing new features, alternatives for payment processing, suggestions for prioritising your team’s health and much more.

As we work through this together, we encourage you to ask questions, voice your concerns, and provide feedback to Square on the resources you need. Square is waiving March and April subscription fees for software products

To help sellers save where they can, Square is waiving subscription fees for software products for the month of April. We also refunded fees for the month of March. This applies to the following Square services:

This change will happen automatically, and no action needs to be taken as a subscriber to obtain a refund.

Note: If you cancel a subscription, there may be impacts to your account settings and setup if you choose to resubscribe later. Learn more about managing your subscriptions.

Products To Help Continue Taking Payments During COVID-19

We understand that this can be a challenging time for your business and we are here to assist. Square has turned to our manufacturing and supplier partners and researched various third-party products that can help you accept payments or prepare your business to reopen. Setting up Square Online Store and Ordering

It is easy to accept and manage online orders through the Square Online Store. Just Set up your Square Online Store and import your item library to start selling online. With options for both collection and delivery, your customers can get what they want, while following current social distancing recommendations. Learn more about Managing Online Orders with Square.

Pickup and delivery with online orders

Square Online Store can enable your business to take orders online for in-person pickup. We’ve also expedited the ability for you to offer curbside pickup and local delivery and waived fees for these services until 30th June 2020. With Square for Restaurants, you can integrate popular ordering platforms for delivery and pickup orders – so you can meet your customers wherever they are.

Printer Setup and Troubleshooting

As businesses have shifted from in-person payments to online orders, curbside pickup and delivery, many business owners have found a need to rearrange their workspaces to accommodate this change. When moving hardware such as printer stations, devices need to be setup and reconnected carefully in order to resume functioning correctly. Send electronic invoices

With the country maintaining a heavy focus on social distancing, the likelihood of customers being unable to visit your brick and mortar business will decrease. For customers that are unable to physically shop in your store, you have the ability to bill them through Square Invoices. You can send an unlimited amount of invoices to your customers to ensure that they’re able to purchase your products and you’re able to get paid.

Increase in contactless payment limits

Due to physical distancing measures, card networks are increasing limits for contactless card payments. To help combat COVID-19 and assist sellers, Square is increasing the signature limit on contactless card transactions in step with these changes. Log in to your online Square Dashboard and click on the COVID-19 Resource banner to access tips that can help you manage your business during this time. Learn how to update your business hours, keep in touch with your customers and much more.

Pause subscription billing

If you temporarily scale back your business operations, you now have the ability to pause the billing for your Square software subscriptions for up to 3 months. Pausing your subscription only suspends billing, and you’ll still have access to important business information until 1 June 2020. Utilise contactless payments

As social distancing becomes more commonplace, many business owners are wondering what steps can be taken to keep things running smoothly while maintaining a safe environment for both customers and staff members. Square’s Contactless Chip Reader, Square Terminal accept contactless payments, allowing customers to complete their purchase without needing to handoff a payment card to finish a transaction.

Offer employees to accept tips through Cash App

As an alternative to accepting cash tips or having a customer enter in tip amounts on your point of sale, Cash App can serve as another platform for your employees to accept tips. Cash App is a Square product, and funds can be sent to a recipient in 1–2 business days for free, or instantly for a small fee.

Create donation links during online checkout

To help businesses stay afloat, you can now accept donations during the online checkout process. Although optional for your customers, this can help provide an additional source of revenue for your business. To enable this feature:

  1. Log in to your online Square Dashboard > select Ask for donations.
  2. In the pop-up window, indicate Accept donations as the Purpose of link, and give the link an optional title.
  3. Press Create link.
