Manage your Square Card
Change your Square Card PIN
You can reset your Square Card PIN from your online Square Dashboard or from your Square app. You will need to use your new PIN to check your balance at a cash machine to ensure it is fully activated.
From your online Square Dashboard:
Go to Balance > select a location under Locations.
Click the gear icon and select Card settings.
Click Reset PIN.
From the Square app:
Navigate to the Balance tab > Square Card.
Tap Reset PIN.
Complete Secure Customer Authentication
Square enforces Secure Customer Authentication (SCA) in various scenarios to protect against fraud and ensure the security of your funds. The scenarios where SCA is implemented include:
Upon entry to viewing and managing your Square Card account.
Completing online purchases with your Square Card where you receive a prompt to verify your identity.
Adding any third-party provider to your Square account for account information access.
To complete SCA you must verify your identity. You will be prompted to complete two of the following methods:
Face or touch ID.
SMS OTP (one-time passcode).
Square password.
Important: one-time passcodes are meant to be used for authentication purposes only and should not be shared with anyone. Square will never ask for your OTP or password.
Edit Your Billing Address
You are able to view and edit your billing address associated with your Square Card.
From your online Square Dashboard:
Go to Balance > select a location under Locations.
Click the gear icon and select Card settings.
Select Edit billing address > make your edits and click Save.
From the Square App:
Navigate to the Balance tab > Square Card.
Select Edit billing address > make your edits and tap Save.
Reorder Your Square Card
If your Square Card is lost or stolen, you should cancel your card without delay and reorder it from your app or online Square Dashboard. If you see any unauthorised or fraudulent charges, you can file a dispute either before or after ordering your new card.
Note: Square Card will typically arrive within five working days. Your funds will continue to accrue in your Square balance while you wait for your new card to arrive. You will be able to manually transfer that money to your linked bank account at any time.
From your online Square Dashboard:
Navigate to the Balance tab of your Square Dashboard.
Click the gear icon and select Card settings.
Select Problem with card > I lost my card or My card was stolen.
Under Replace card select Yes.
Select Deactivate card and replace and a new card will be posted to you.
From the Square app:
Navigate to the Balance tab > Square Card.
Tap Problem with card.
Select I lost my card or My card was stolen.
Tap Deactivate card and a new card will be posted to you.
Manage Your Notifications
To manage how you receive notifications regarding your Square Card activity, open the Square app and navigate to Balance > Square Card > Manage notifications.
You also have the option to update your notification preferences to receive SMS alerts when certain transaction types occur on your account. When potentially high-risk transactions occur on your card, such as international purchases, Card not Present (CNP) transactions or declined transactions, an SMS notification will be sent to the phone number on file. This message will serve to notify you of the transaction, and provide you with the option to temporarily lock your card and review the payment in question.
You can update your notification preferences or unlock your card at any time from the Balance section of your online Square Dashboard or the Square app.
Deactivate Your Square Card
You can deactivate your Square Card from your Square Point of Sale app or Square Dashboard.
To deactivate your Square Card from the Square Dashboard:
Navigate to the Balance tab of your Square Dashboard.
Click the gear icon and select Card settings.
Tap Problem with card and select I’d like to cancel my card.
Tap Deactivate card.
To deactivate your Square Card from the Square Point of Sale app:
On your Square POS app, tap the three horizontal lines to open your app menu.
Tap the Balance tab > Square Card.
Tap Get help with card > I’d like to cancel my card > select Deactivate Card.
Tap Okay or Switch back to regular transfers if you’d like to return to Square’s automatic next-day transfer schedule.
You can leave feedback on the following screen and press Send, or tap X in the top left to exit the menu.
Temporarily Lock Your Square Card
You can temporarily deactivate your Square Card from your online Square Dashboard or from your Square app. To do so:
From your online Square Dashboard:
Navigate to the Balance tab of your Square Dashboard.
Click the gear icon and select Card settings.
Toggle on Lock card.
From the Square app:
Navigate to the Balance tab > Square Card.
Toggle on Lock card.
Close Your Square Card Account
You can close your Square Card account from your online Square Dashboard or from your Square app. If you choose to close your Square Card account, your Square Card will be deactivated and you will no longer be able to use your Square Card. Upon closing your account, you will have the choice to either continue with manual transfers or revert back to automated transfers. If automated transfers are selected, all future proceeds relating to your Square account will be settled directly to your linked bank account.
To close your account from your online Square Dashboard:
Navigate to the Balance tab of your Square Dashboard.
Click the gear icon and select Card settings.
Click Get help with card.
Select I’d like to close my account and press the Deactivate Square Card button.
From the Square app:
Navigate to the Balance tab > Square Card.
Tap Card and Card support.
Tap I’d like to close my account.
Tap the Close account button.
