Set up your nonprofit organization with Square

You can use Square as a nonprofit organization to process donation payments and collect donor information.

Sign up

To start accepting donation payments, create a Square account online or directly from your mobile device by downloading the Square Point of Sale app.

When signing up, please enter your full name, date of birth and physical address. We are required by federal law to ask for the personal information of one of the members of your organization. There is currently no way to sign up for a Square account without providing this information.

Bank account details

Collect donations online

With Square Online, you can use the donation item type to accept donations on your website. Donation items are fully customizable and you can easily feature them on your homepage to raise awareness for your cause. Capture donor information

You can collect customer information right from the transaction screen of the Square Point of Sale app, as well as your Square Online website. Any details collected this way will be available in your Customer Directory so you can follow up with your donors and supporters at a later time. Enable staff to collect donations

Team members can accept donations on your behalf by simply logging in to the Square Point of Sale app from their device using the email address and password associated with their account. Ensure your team members have the right permissions set up to accept donations. Learn how to set up custom permission sets for details.
