Square Simplifies Commerce Software with New Unified Plans & Pricing

Three transparent, inclusive plans replace 18 à la carte subscriptions, making it easier for sellers to access Square’s complete ecosystem of business tools and power growth

Today, Square announced simplified pricing that makes it easier for sellers to access and use its complete ecosystem of commerce tools. The new three-tier structure – Square Free, Square Plus, and Square Premium – replaces 18 different à la carte subscriptions with all-inclusive plans that grow with sellers as their businesses evolve and their needs change.

Earlier this year, Square unified its Square Point of Sale app, consolidating all of Square’s vertical-specific software into a single, adaptable platform. These new unified plans are the next step toward making it even easier for sellers to discover and adopt Square’s solutions – because when sellers use more of the ecosystem, they drive better outcomes for their business and stay on Square’s platform longer.

More Value, Less Complexity

Square data shows that the company’s software drives growth for businesses: seller cohorts that adopt Square’s software see 9% higher sales¹. The new plans make it easier than ever for businesses to access these growth-driving tools without navigating complicated subscription decisions.

Sellers can choose their level of investment, with each plan providing clear value as a seller’s needs scales:

  • Square Free ($0/month per location) maintains access to all the tools Square has offered sellers without a software subscription, like point of sale, websites, online ordering, invoicing, and Square Banking.
  • Square Plus ($49/month per location) offers everything in Square Free, along with advanced POS features across all seven point-of-sale modes – specialized tools built for quick-service restaurants, bars, salons, retailers, and more – and functionality like advanced inventory, loyalty programs, marketing tools, and staff management, with a reduced 2.5% + 15¢ processing rate for in person payments.
  • Square Premium ($149/month per location) features nearly all² of Square’s software offerings, as well as 24/7 phone support and advanced reporting, at the lowest processing rate of 2.4% + 15¢ for in person payments.

Sellers who have adopted the new plans have noted they are already benefitting from the simplified structure. Many of them are discovering and adopting software they had never used before and gaining the peace of mind that transparent cost predictability brings.

Built for Modern Commerce

Today’s businesses don’t fit into neat categories. Neighborhood coffee shops grow into social event spaces. Local salons transform into community wellness destinations. Whether a business is opening new locations, pivoting their operations, or branching into new revenue streams, Square’s platform serves sellers of any industry or size and ensures they have the tools they need to pursue every opportunity for growth. With these new plans, sellers can now more easily adopt more of Square without worrying about additional subscriptions or price-gated functionality.

“Sellers want to focus on growing their business, and our job is to provide them with the powerful, innovative commerce tools that help them accomplish this,” said Willem Avé, Global Head of Product for Square. “Businesses today are more fluid than ever, and as they evolve and expand, adopting the tools they need to power their creativity and ambition should be straightforward. Our new plans free sellers up to discover the software that works best for them and allows them to focus on what matters most: serving their customers and thriving in their neighborhoods.”

“Square’s integrated ecosystem of tools has always been a competitive advantage, and these unified plans make our powerful commerce solutions more accessible than ever,” said Nick Molnar, Global Head of Sales and Marketing at Block. “We know how transformative it is when businesses can easily connect payments, operations, marketing, analytics, and so much more, all within one platform. With simplified pricing that scales with growth, we’re unlocking new potential for millions of sellers, helping them easily discover and adopt the technology that will allow them to operate more efficiently, better serve their customers, and build sustainable local businesses.”

The new plans are available now to all new US sellers, and most existing US sellers can adopt the new pricing plans by visiting the pricing and subscriptions page within their Square Dashboard. To learn more, visit squareup.com/pricing.
