Square Financial Services Announces Grant Recipients

Square Financial Services today announces the grant recipients of the 21 Squared Grant Initiative, a microgrant program launched in December 2021 in partnership with the Community Foundation of Utah.

Grant recipients hail from across Utah, from urban centers to rural areas, and include organizations such as:

• Cache Refugee and Immigrant Connection: Logan-based Cache Refugee and Immigrant Connection (CRIC) is an organization that assists refugees and immigrants in finding affordable housing and becoming more financially literate. In its nearly 8 years of operations, CRIC has provided yearly assistance to more than 500 new American families from over 30 different countries.
• Utah Black Chamber: Utah Black Chamber works with Utah’s Black community to provide education, training, and other resources for business and professional growth. Through its Black Success Center in Salt Lake City, Utah Black Chamber offers business training, incubator space, and internship and mentorship programs, among other services.
• Suazo Business Center: The Suazo Business Center helps develop and empower minority entrepreneurs from Latino and other underserved communities. Working with industry experts, Suazo Business Center provides educational courses on finance, marketing, and business plan development, among other topics.
• Moab Valley Multicultural Center: The Moab Valley Multicultural Center (MVMC) works with local and statewide stakeholders to address the needs of those experiencing homelessness or at risk of losing their housing. In addition to advocating for affordable housing, the MVMC offers case management and referral services for the housing insecure, food insecure, and those struggling with addiction, among other focus areas.

“As a more rural-based organization, it can be difficult to obtain funding to support the work we do in our community,” said Rhiana Medina, executive director of Moab Valley Multicultural Center. “That’s why we’re thrilled to be recognized by Square Financial Services. These unrestricted funds can be put to immediate use to aid our work with the homeless and housing insecure here in Moab.”
