About VAT, fee and service charge reports

VAT reports provide an overview of how your VAT rates are being used, including both taxable and non-taxable sales. Fees reports offer a comprehensive view of all transactional fees, VAT on fees, and the cost of taking payments. In service charge reports, you can view a report of transactions with service charges applied.

Before you start

To track taxable or service-charged sales in your reports, create items with applied VAT rates or service charges.

If you update the name of your tax or service charge, it will be recognised as a separate item in reporting.
  • Taxable sales may not add up to the total VAT collected because some sales and items may have multiple VAT rates applied.

  • In the sales report on Square Point of Sale apps, you can only view the total amount of VAT or fees for a given time period. For detailed information, go to VAT and Fees in your Square Dashboard.

  • Service charge reports are only available in your Square Dashboard.

  • You can print and export your VAT and service charge reports. Fee reports can be printed but not exported. To learn how to print and export the reports, go to the article print, export or email your reports.

Each report has relevant filters:

  • All day: Select All day or Custom. If you configured your reporting hours, you can also select them.

  • All locations: Select All locations or manually choose locations to review.

  • Summary: To compare sales within the set date range by day, week or month, click Summary > Daily, Weekly or Monthly. Scroll down to view a sales summary comparison.

  • Displayed By and Filtered By: Choose your display option. If you set up the name of your Device and Device Nickname, you can select them to view the reports.

  • You can view your API transactions in your sales summary by selecting Filter By > Source. Then select eCommerce Integrations from All Sources filter drop-down.
